Design Stage

Our engineer will attend and assess your property. A whole house heat loss survey is conducted. This survey will assess your current heating, size of radiators and the building fabric. From this survey and the use of other factors such as EPC’s, and building location/orientation, decisions are made on the suitability of a heat pump installation. If it’s a viable option, the size of the heat pump, and an estimation of energy usage can then be given. A no obligation free quote is given based on these factors.

Our Environmental Concerns

Heating buildings is the number one consumer of energy in the UK and is a major source of carbon emissions. Heat Pumps offer a solution to this problem and a heat pump could make your home greener.

Is a heat pump right for your home?

Most properties can be converted to accept a heat pump however there are a few exceptions, which include flats, maisonettes, apartments and non- domestic properties.

Listed buildings are not always restricted and many owners of listed buildings are able to install heat pumps. We’d advise you to first check with your local planning authority for their specific guidance before proceeding.

For homes in conservation areas or heritage sites, it is often still possible to install a heat pump. However, we’d advise you to first check with your local planning authority for their specific guidance before proceeding.

To get the best out of your heat pump, it’s essential to make sure your home is well insulated. This could include upgrading your loft insulation, upgrading to double glased windows or cavity / solid wall insulation. This will also help keep running costs down, and will mean you could qualify for the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme £5000 grant towards the cost.

ASHPs are most efficient when the outside air temperature isn’t too cold, but can still function at temperatures as low as -20oC. Generally, the lower the air temperature, the more energy your pump will use to transfer heat.
